a film by Wes Sherwin

First up, here’s a link to a short film I did a few months ago. A local high school senior was looking to put a cap on his application to SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) and had the chance to win some scholarship money for his film degree. I have to admit, at first I was a little hesitant. After all, this was a kid in high school! But, we all have to start somewhere. I decided to meet with him and his cinematographer, Devin Wheeler, and after talking with them and reading the script, I felt there were some interesting possibilities for such a short film. I decided to accept the role of the on-air DJ.

For me, the biggest challenge in this role was knowing I hadĀ almost no range of movement. I had to stay seated behind the microphone of the radio station. Everything would have to be conveyed solely on voice and facial expressions. It was a great exercise for me and I was pleased with my overall performance. And I’m happy to add that the director, Wes Sherwin, did receive an $84,000 scholarship to SCAD as a result of this short film — plus he won an award at the Savannah International Film Festival with this piece as well.
